A baby is delivered through cesarean section (C-section) through incisions created during surgery in the abdomen and uterus. If there are particular pregnancy difficulties, preparing for a C-section may be required. Women who have previously undergone a C-section may do it again. But frequently, the need for a first-time C-section isn't apparent until labor has begun. Knowing what to anticipate before, during, and after a C-section might help you be ready if you're expecting. Normal labor progression isn't happening. One of the most frequent causes of a C-section is labor that isn't advancing (labor dystocia). The initial stage of labor can be extended (with prolonged cervix dilation or opening) or the second stage might be prolonged (with prolonged pushing after full cervical dilation). The infant is in trouble. A C-section may be the most secure procedure if there are concerns about changes in the baby's heartbeat.
The infant or infants are positioned unusually. The safest method of delivery for newborns whose shoulders or sides come first (transverse) or whose feet or buttocks arrive first (breech) is a C-section.
