A C-section is a surgical procedure that involves delivering the baby through an incision in the mother's abdomen. A Caesarean section is another name for a C-section. The procedure is not painful or difficult, but it does necessitate the use of medical instruments and anaesthesia. The baby is extracted after the surgeon makes an incision in the mother's abdomen and uterus. When there are complications with the pregnancy or when a vaginal delivery would pose a serious risk to the baby or mother, a c-section is performed. C-sections are classified as either emergency or elective. When there are complications with the pregnancy, such as foetal distress, placental abruption, umbilical cord prolapse, or maternal shock, the emergency procedure is performed. The elective C-section is usually scheduled before labour begins and is less risky than emergency C-sections.
