C SECTION DELIVERY

C-section births are quite common nowadays. A surgical incision is made through the abdominal wall into the uterus during caesarean delivery. Many women plan for a vaginal delivery, but an emergency caesarean delivery may be recommended by the doctor. The patient is sedated during caesarean delivery. The mother will require bed rest for a full day following the c-section delivery. They are usually expected to stay in the hospital for 2 to 4 days. A caesarean delivery can result in a 6-week recovery period. C-section deliveries have a better outcome in cases such as gestational diabetes in the mother, gestational hypertension, cases with intrauterine growth restrictions of the baby, cases with placental abnormalities or pregnancy with fibroids, precious pregnancies such as infertility treated, and so on. This is because the risk of normal delivery is much higher in such cases, and it is all cut short in a C-section delivery. C-sections are recommended in high-risk situations. Patients can elect to have a c-section even before labour begins naturally, avoiding an emergency c-section later.
